The Friends of Chippokes provide knowledgable volunteers to help Park staff put on an interesting and informative Junior Ranger Program.
Junior Rangers is a 5 day program for 6-12 year olds.
In 2010 it will be offered from 9am-12pm the weeks of June 28-July 2, July 26-July 30, and August 30-September 3.
Every day includes a fun learning lesson, a snack, and an exploration or craft.
Children are asked to please wear close-toed shoes, play clothes, hats, sunscreen, and bug repellent.
The cost for the full five days is $25. In order to recieve Junior Ranger status and badge, children must attend the full 5 day program.
The program is available on a daily basis for $5 per child. The Friday program is not available to children that do not complete the 5 day requirement.
Every day of the program follows a different theme unique to the resources at Chippokes Plantation. They are:
Mondays-Historic Explorers,
Tuesdays-Beneath Your Feet,
Wednesdays-Water and Wildlife,
Thursdays-Passport in Time, and
Fridays-Canoeing and Graduation.
Children are asked to be dropped off at the Conference Shelter at 9am and picked up at 12pm at the Conference Shelter.
Registration is strongly recommended. Availability is on a first come first serve basis.
